It'll be useful for me, too. Just hunting down the links was aggravating, and I knew exactly what I was looking for.

Love it!

I was sorry to hear book seven wouldn't be published by Tor. I was eagerly awaiting it. A pox on them! I'm glad you decided to publish on your own, though. I've enjoyed the whole series. I love the background material. I can't wait to read the conclusion. Although I'll be very sad. Thank you. DonnaT

Re: Love it!

I was pretty disappointed when I got the news, I have to admit. (Also, it was ACE. I want to make sure that if you put a pox on a publishing company, it's the right one. ;) )

I couldn't imagine leaving the story hanging unfinished. I put in all these little threads throughout the series that I wanted to bring together in the last book. I think I would regret not writing the final piece of the story. I couldn't really move on to a new series without it.

I'm going to miss writing in this world. I was shocked how sad I felt when I wrote the last line in the first draft.

Thank you for telling me you enjoy the books. That is always fabulous to read.

Cheers,
Moira

Ooh, this is terribly convenient! Now I can point friends directly here after I make them read the books instead of just linking the journal. ^-^

I plan on doing the same with the book when I put it up, as I'll be putting it up a chapter at a time, a day at a time, which will mean when I'm done the chapters will be backwards. (It's going to be a mess.) So I will have a post dedicated to linking the chapters in the right order.

And thanks for the support.

AFan

Please, please figure out a different format that your blog to post the story in. Maybe even .pdfs if you insist on not looking into eBook options. These little snippets aren't too painful, but it's going to be really not fun to try to read a book this way.

It never occurred to me that there might be another way to do it. Thank you for the suggestion.

Re: AFan

Using pages and the e-book template you can make a very nice e-book with proper layout. It may take a few hours converting it from word to the template, but it's worth it. Once you've created an e-book you can convert that to a .mobi file for Amazon and self publish there too. I've set this up for a few people in the past.

Re: AFan

It would be great to have an ebook version for kindle. A version through Amazon would probably provide income, especially given you already have a following.

Re: AFan

I've got a lot of people to apologize to for not responding to their comments. I'm so sorry.

A lot of people have prompted me to make the book available on kindle, so I will be, though it will still be available for free here.

I like the change

I was reading your website and like that you do not have the deadlines. Now you can do your own stories. I feel for some of the series authors, it seems their story telling starts to suffer after a while with harsh deadlines and writing demands. I can't wait for the next book, and be assured, I'll read it.

Thanks

Re: I like the change

Hi there. I've heard of some big name writers asking to have their publishing schedules slowed down because they were pushed to write faster. On the other hand, there are writers like Nora Roberts who write something like ten (?) books a year.

I was so upset to hear that Ace is not going to publish the seventh book! I really love this series - the original concept and the unique relationship between Lee and Taro is hard pressed to come by these days - and I respect you a great deal for deciding to finish the book anyway. Although its disappointing that I won't have the concluding book on my bookshelves, I am still psyched about reading the next chapter of Lee and Taro's lives. These short stories are also amazing, and thank you for posting them (even if they are no longer relevant)!

I am so sorry for not responding to your kind comment earlier. I truly thought I had.

I couldn't imagine leaving the series unfinished, and the stories are a lot of fun to write. (Though I haven't been able to write one for a while.) I may continue to write some after the last book is out, because I really like doing it.

Have you thought of self-publishing directly to Kindle? Don't know if that would work for you.

It's too bad the publishers wimped out. Your series is very enjoyable. Have your thought about self-publishing using Amazon? The site is: http://www.booksurge.com/. I'm very glad that at least the stories are getting out through your livejournal.

Thank you. :D I have decided to publish on kindle, as so many have suggested it, but it will be available here as well. I don't think anyone has told me about booksurge, though, so thank you for that information.

Sorry about the publisher, but....

Hey! I discovered your series about a week ago and have bought -and read- the first three books, bought the next three, and then went searching for this one since I saw that there was a seventh on the Wiki page. I'm so glad to know you published it somewhere! I already bought it from Smashwords, and decided that since I had saved up the $7.99 for it I would pay it as well. I don't have words to say how much I love this series. It was an impulse buy after seeing it recommended on a list of "books you shouldn't judge by their cover" (specifically aimed at fantasy books, even more specifically fantasy books written by women). Definitely an investment I don't regret!

I know that I'll be keeping a lookout for any more that you publish. In the meanwhile, I'm going to finish this up and then on to the short story collection! ^.^

Re: Sorry about the publisher, but....

Hi there. Thank you so much for this amazing comment and taking the time to write it. It's always wonderful to learn of people finding out about the series after all this time, and to learn that the reader enjoyed it. And to buy all of the remaining books after reading just the first three is such a great vote of confidence, a very high compliment.

Thank you, as well, for you generous payment of the last book. I really appreciate it.

If you have the time, could you post the link to the list you mentioned? I have googled it but couldn't find it. It's not so much that I want to see what's written about my book, but that I'm always looking for recommendations for female writers, and I'd like to share the list with others.

Cheers!
